POEM
is this week's theme at Illustration Friday. By odd coincidence I have been working on writing poems for some of my paintings. Here's one with the most seasonal subject matter. You can click on the painting to enlarge it. My son H is the model, enjoying a moment at one of his favorite places in the world: the lake near my parent's house. I used to love it too...so it's a joy to watch the boys basking in the same feelings the lake always awoke in me. Time stands still for a heartbeat.

Beautiful painting, as always!
Very inspired illustration!
Really beautiful. Love the poem.
Hello Nancy,
I haven't found a translation of the Brecht poem yet, but if ever I come across one, I'll let you know.
I like your paintings very much. They have so much atmosphere. 'Twist' would be my favourite.
I love the colors and the design focus you've created with the ripples. Very nice!
gorgeous painting, how you perfectly paint the water is awesome.
The love you have for your boys comes through your art loud and clear. Wonderful work, as always. I love the emotion of your work.
reminds me of Joaquin Sorolla.
Gorgeous big painting here! Makes me wanna stop what I'm doing, put the computer away and find the nearest beach!
this painting drew me to the others on your oil painting site. it was a lovely experience. you paint beautifully.
This is wonderful, love the ripples in the water
Terrific painting, he does look as if his toes are being tickeled, lovely.
Beautiful job with the water and I like the way the composition leaves room for the poem as if it were an integral part of the scene.
This is so beautiful! A fantastic subject matter and a great poem.
Hello Nancy!! I loved your poem!! And the illustration: EXCELLENT as usual!!!
My little Liam would love this one. Tickling toes...so cute.
a lovely piece and handsome model!
Another beauty. I can almost feel the sand between my toes.....
Yes! It is like being there. But the colors are so much more ethereal than the greys and blues of the "real" beaches. Really beautiful.
Gorgeous! Wish I was there!
Just beautiful...I can actually see the water moving. Isn't it so special to see your children grow attached to a place that is so fond in your memory ? I feel the same way with my boys. Thank you for visiting my blog as well.
Very nice work, Nancy!
what a beautiful image; you have really captured his body in the water perfectly

Beautiful water Nancy! Just stopping to say hello. The summer has just flown by. Hope all is great for you!
Sorry I missed this one. It is really beautiful and so is the sentiment and history behind it.
Nancy, thanks for stopping by my blog. I was just trolling through your work and I'm so impressed. Beautiful stuff. Thank you so much for sharing. Have you an online portfolio or am I looking at it?
All the best!
